By and large I find Cafejo to be delicious coffee.
That said, there are a few pods that I'm mixed
about. This is one of them.
First off, it isn't really espresso and it isn't really
coffee. It's an odd hybrid. This makes sense given
that no single-serving coffee maker has the
requisite number of bars of pressure to make "true"
espresso.
At first sip, I usually want to spit this stuff out. It's
powerful, earthy, and very dark. If you're half
asleep, it really wakes you up. Oddly, the foam is
the worst part. Once it settles, the coffee gets
appreciably better.
With further sips, Espresso Gold becomes even
more pleasant but you never quite forget that you
are drinking one bold cup of joe. It's not a coffee
you can just "forget about."
By the bottom of the cup, you like it. It still has that
earthy quality to it but you begin to enjoy the
subtler notes of flavor.
That said, I won't be ordering this again because,
although it mellows out to something quite
drinkable, it is not as immediately satisfying as the
Kenya, Sumatra, or Adrenaline dark brews.

This is my new found favorite. Since I use the Senseo coffee maker, those pods were my first brand used. Moved to Timothy's Rainforest Espresso as I was looking for something stronger. Using a coffee (pod) brewer, I know that finding a comparable "Starbucks" coffee/espresso is rare. Timothy's was fine but Cafejo's Espresso Gold is my new found favorite! Just the aroma alone upon opening the pod puts you in coffee heaven! I truly believe that the 11g pod also attributes to a bolder flavor; outranking Timothy's. Very smooth tasting, not bitter or acidic. Enjoy!

Liquid gunpowder! Wonderful aroma and flavor -- I never thought I could get this from a pod. Thanks!

10 oz setting on the Bunn made a very strong cup. I like espresso, but a full size cup of this was too intense for me.

Excellent! Much better than just their other Espresso Italiano. Bold, dark, rich and smooth body.

Very good dark roast, (4.5 stars)nice smokey notes on the finish. This larger pod is the absolute max that will fit in my Senseo (single holder). Most of the time I make a CafeMocha out of my morning cup. This blend holds up nicely to the chocolate (Trader Joe's chocolate syrup - no corn syrup in it!). My coffees are usually sweetened with Stevia, by the way.

The only reason it's listed as "dark" is because they use overstuffed pods (which don't work in my SimpleHuman A40 pod brewer.) Don't buy unless your brewer can handle thick pods.

Nice deep flavor. The unnamed reviewer who starts their review "By and large" has said everything that needs to be.

A number of reviewers have raved 9s(some even complained) about how strong the coffee is from these pods. I was looking for strong, but was disappointed. In my Black & Decker coffee maker I find that one of these pods works OK for a strong 7-ounce cup, but not a 9oz. Two pods does OK filling my 14oz travel mug with medium-strength joe. So far the strongest cup I've found comes from the Timothey's Rainforest Espresso, which also seems to fit better in my brewer.
